I've seen bigger cupboards than this room. You have to be careful opening the door so as not to hit the bed. Having the basin in the shower saved room. Tried to get an extra pillow but reception was closed and noone answered the mobile number. Breakfast is cold cereal, make your own toast and instant coffee. The jam etc was in communal jars, not good since we are still in a pandemic! Friendly staff? I think not! The only positive was that the room was clean.

What a great Hotel. Trents customer service was outstanding he really went the extra mile for us and our dog! The room was comfortable, clean and the complimentary breakfast in the morning was a nice touch to the stay. Thanks for the stay! We cant wait to see the Renos when the fully complete!

Looked very old on the outside. Once inside I was amazed. Very clean from the entrenched to your room with very comfortable clean beds. Bathroom roomie and clean. A lovely stop over. We had pet. Which they accommodated for. Excellent service so willing to help you at all times if needed. I think if you come to Hay it is the best place to stay.

Diamond in the rough! Looks a little rough on the outside, but the inside is fantastic. Rooms are beautiful clean, bed was fantastic and shower was amazing. Great for stopover, we stop here whenever we are travelling. Secure carpark is a bonus.

First impressions are lasting. Having prepaid a booking and arriving to an unattended reception desk, phoning the number twice which went to voicemail left me wondering. Eventually 5 minutes after calling the first time I was met (not greeted) by the person responsible and told she was busy after I mentioned my time waiting. The hotel is an old pub being converted to a hotel. The outside needs lots of work. The rooms are newly renovated but carpets have not been renewed. Our bed was comfortable but the doona was stained and needed washing. Internet did not work despite having three possible connections. Powerpoints in the bathroom at floor level next to the basin. Our balcony room faced the main highway so no point paying a premium to hear tru ks and cars. All in all reasonable for an overnight stay only. Price is too high for what it is compared to proper motels. Definitely not suitable for people with disabilities.

Lovely experience Had a nice stay. The place has a historical sense which makes it special. Complimentary Breakfast options were toast and coffee/tea/juice which one can prepare themselves. Not complaining given the cost. The rooms were small but renovated. Parking became a problem by night as the property was full due to holiday season. There was no surface apart from one bedside table to place belongings like keys , bottle which is not a deal breaker for a night stay but inconvenient. Staying here should be considered as an experience instead of hotel stay.

Always stay here overnight when we travel from Sydney to Adelaide, halfway between the two. Never had a problem with the service or room cleanliness.

I stayed at The Commercial with my dog for one night and he got fleas. My luggage also got infested with fleas. The bathroom was very clean and the air con was wonderful in the summer heat. The internet did not work for me.

Friendly and helpful owner. Clean, updated rooms. Light continental breakfast (cereal, toast, tea, coffee (Moccona sachets or Nescafe instant), juice. No tissues in bedroom, ran out of crockery at breakfast. Cold fridge in room, excellent air-con. Easy free parking.
